[Vanessa K. Bennett-Johnson]

I am a native of Waterbury, Connecticut and have been active in the arts since 1994. I occasionally use charcoal, graphite and acrylic paint and ink as mediums, but I have recently discovered that printmaking is my passion. I tend to focus on portraits which are often done in a somewhat cubist but certainly abstract style. Shapes, textures and value seem to play a major role in determining in which direction a particular composition will go. I enjoy the challenge of creating visual excitement for the viewer no matter what medium I am using. I started drawing over twenty years ago, while a teen. During that time I exhibited frequently, including several one woman shows. After high school I married, raised a family, and attended college. After a hiatus of more than fifteen years I decided to give art another try. Art is my life. I am finally where I belong.
